Public attitudes towards fusion energy in Europe

Abstract

This report, produced by the Socio-Economic Studies (SES) Programme at EUROFUSION, provides a detailed analysis of public attitudes towards fusion energy in Europe. The report is based on a comprehensive survey research conducted to map out the public's attitudes towards fusion energy as well as their overall acceptance and support for further development in this field.

Our methodology included a self-administered questionnaire survey. The study involved 19,144 respondents from 21 European countries. The survey was designed to capture informed opinions by providing participants with comprehensive background information on fusion energy, including its benefits, risks, and potential socioeconomic and environmental implications. This approach aimed to overcome the challenges associated with measuring public attitudes towards complex and emerging technologies, where awareness and understanding may be limited.
